50+Fabulous

A well-established- yet hard to maintain- website received a complete makeover and content management system, as well as begin to develop the site into a community of women over fifty.

Pattie Heisser brought her 50+Fabulous project to Web Inception through a referral from a previous client.  Pattie is a dynamic baby boomer with energy to spare, and quickly became one of my favorite clients due to her glowing smile and positive personality.

Pattie had started 50+Fabulous about two years before contactinf us, and had built quite a nice collection of resources and information for women over 50 on the site.  She had signed up about 10 authors to be regular contributors to the site, and, along with Pattie’s columns, had written over 200 articles targeted at baby boomer women and improving their lifestyles.

Over time, she had become burdened with the upkeep of the site.  Each page was added manually and all the HTML and associated code had to be copied and modified by hand.  It was a time consuming process that made the excitement of running a community site fade quickly.

After discussing the options with Pattie, we decided to completely redesign and rebuild the site.  We chose ExpressionEngine to power the content management, as it was perfectly suited to handle the multitude of authors and various sections of content that were required.  We collaborated closely over the course of the project and came up with a bright, organized layout that lends itself nicely to the target audience.  Pattie’s original teal color still dominates the site but how has some extra flair, and navigating the site is easier than ever thanks to ExpressionEngine’s flexible architecture.
